Nov28Project Portfolio Management: The QuestPosted at 09:52 in Project Management

I know, it's been a long time since I did not post here. While I'm managing some of the key projects at Interoute, I'm also looking for the appropriate Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software tool to support the Program Management Office (PMO) in reporting effectively to the organization, manage effectively our resources (dedicated and shared), etc. Basically, I'm looking for a tool that is easy to use, but goes beyond what a typical Microsoft Project can offer, especially in terms of portfolio dashboard views; resource management (not only allocation); risk register; etc.

And while I was starting looking at what's available on the market, I've been invited by Gartner to attend their Project & Portfolio Management Summit 2007 next week in Prague: That's what I call a very fortunate opportunity, and a perfect timing. I will be more than happy to meet some of the vendors there, like Asta Development, Atlantic Global, AtTask, Augeo, eProject, Innotas, Microsoft (let's have a look at the new features of MS-Project 2007), Planisware, PlanView, Primavera, The Gensight Group. I'll do one post per product that really stroke me, and will ask for your help to compare pros and cons.

Hello Frederic,

My name is Reed and I work with a SaaS PPM company called Daptiv (formerly eProject). They will also be attending the conference next week in Prague and have some truly exciting offerings. I would love to arrange an introduction between you and Daptiv's Vice President of Marketing - Tim Low. Thanks very much and I hope you have a great trip!

Reed

PS
I considered writing this message in French but decided against it as I've not practiced in nearly three years... je suis désolé!

Hello Reed, I would really appreciate that, given that Daptiv is one of the Technology Providers I want to meet :)

I've tried eProject for my business and it didn't work. I hope it works for you, but I think it's important to know as many alternatives as possible. Right now we're managing our multiple projects in Wrike http://www.wrike.com/

Reed > I have met Tim during the Summit. I did not have a chance to get a demo for Daptiv PPM, but I will definitely come back to you guys to get more information.

Dotson > Thanks for your much appreciated feedback, however, Wrike seems a bit weak in terms of integration points with other systems (or, at least, there is no mention of these on their website, apart from email integration). Besides that, and the fact that there is no information about the company itself (will they still be operating in 2 years?); there is no portfolio management feature available.

Looks to me this solution is more scaled for a smaller structure, rather than a global corporation, but happy to discuss if someone from Wrike stops by.

Hi Frederic,
CA Clarity PPM has some great integrations to Software Change Management, Service Desk, Asset Management and ERP sustems such as Oracle and SAP. You are very welcome to visit us at the PPM Summit in Prague. I hope to meet you there and intoduce you to the Clarity System and EMEA team.
