We want you !
Let's set the scene. People who read that blog know I'm working for Interoute, where I'm heading the Program Management Office. A few words about Interoute, for those who might not be familiar with our company: We're Europe's fastest growing telecoms provider, and we own and operate Europe's most advanced and densely connected voice and data network (you can read more on our website). The PMO at Interoute is kind of a startup with only 6 months existence, and our challenge here is to grow and deliver, and continue demonstrating that the use of best practices across the company has tremendous business results.
To achieve this goal, I'm looking for a talented Program Manager to join the startup that is the PMO at Interoute and to take a part in the growing of Project Management across the company, and to help me and the team to manage the portfolio of exciting projects we will have on our plate next year. I won't go through the skill set that is required, but if you think you are the Change Agent I need, please feel free to drop me an email.
Innovation Award for Interoute
Interoute has won the best business and consumer innovation at the Global Telecoms Business Awards, held in Central London on 17 September. The award for innovation came in the voice/data convergence category, and was presented to Matthew Finnie, our CTO, for our unified communications platform, Interoute One.
Interoute Share has also been short listed by leading industry analysts, for a 2007 World Communication Award, only one year after Media Manager scooped the WCA for Best Content Service. We'll know if we make it 2 in a row end of November...
Interoute Express
Interoute just launched Interoute Express, so everyone can now benefit from fast, friendly file delivery! Interoute Express is the great new way to send large files directly from your desktop, it's free to download (for PC only) and to use as an alternative to attaching large files to emails. Instead, it transfers files to a secure, managed delivery platform almost instantly, allowing you to send a unique automatically generated link in your email. It's easier than FTP and means no more issues with oversized email attachments or crashing inboxes. Simply select, upload, compose and hit send with Interoute Express.
Fibre breaksAs you know, I work for Interoute. Our network connects 78 cities in 22 countries across 47'000 kilometres of lit fibre. Such a large and dense network allows us to have extremely competitive prices. However, fibre optics are something very fragile, and there are numerous events that might cause a break (civil work, natural disaster, etc).
People usually think repairing such a fibre break is easy. Pictures below have been taken during an extended fibre break few months ago, over a river between Leipzig and Prague, whereby a 2500m long section had to be re-routed to avoid as many splices as possible along the route.
Is Ethernet the death of SDH at last?Last entry on the Interoute blog is a video debate between Matthew Finnie, CTO at Interoute, and Jean-Paul Hemingway, CTO at Ciena hosted by Martyn Warwick from Telecom TV. Watch the video and share your thoughts.
Looking for a job in Prague?I am looking for an experienced and talented Service Manager to join my Central Service Management team at Interoute. This is an immediate, permanent, full time position based in Prague. If you have a significant background in Service Management, a sound technical knowledge (IP, Voice, Tx), and are able to work under high pressure, feel free to drop me your CV.
Think!
I am delighted to announce that Interoute has launched its development Blog today, and it is called: Think!
Of course, this still needs some refinement (in my opinion), but I'm pretty excited to see this actually happen, a bit more than one year since we first discussed this topic. I invite you to read the first note from our CTO, Matthew Finnie.
